Bench vs Bipod--does the load change?

I haven't done anywhere as much bipod shooting as many of you. The few times that I have, I have not noticed much difference in the load or POI if I find a load on the bench and then shoot off a Bipod. That was shooting heavy barreled rifles with good bedding and a free floated barrel.

What have you guys seen who do this a lot?

It is very hard to balance your gun with a bipod. I don't think any world records were set with a bipod. However they have there place. Never saw anyone hunt with a front rest and bag. Just my two cents Tommy Mc To answer your question Yes sometimes. Just depends how small a group you are looking for..

So it sounds like for bipod guns, best practice is to find on a load on the bench and then check POI with the bipod.

Yes. I do much of my load development at a bench and then switch to the bipod and rear bag. I have found that the best loads shoot best whether prone or at the bench. I do not change my loads. Group size can vary but overall precision is the same for me.
