BENCH SOURCE ANNEALING MACHINE

Finally pulled the trigger on one of these Bench Source machines, so pretty excited to try it out! Called Bench Source direct and ordered from Donna....must say she was extremely pleasant to speak with!! It's nice to see there are some businesses that still believe in great customer service! Already packaged and have an email with the tracking info.

NEXT.....any advice or tips from those that have used this unit????????????

Get ready to anneal every single piece of brass you own. Whether it needs it or not! ;D
I love my machine and wouldnt be without......ever!

I can foresee that in my future ;D

Any tips, or advice to get started? I ordered some of the Tempilaq as well to try

I just run two of these extension hoses so the weight of the tanks isn't on the torch clamp assembly:

It makes adjusting and fine tuning a breeze.

The only problem I had with mine is where the power cord plugs into the machine was lose, machine would shut off if you bumped the cord. I just bent the little tip inside the machine to tighten the plug fit, works fine now.

Do yourself a factor and get a 20lb lp cylinder, with a splitter and two hoses.

You'll quickly learn to hate those little 1lb tanks.

Hey, me too. mine is due here today. I looked into hoses etc to connect a 20lb tank. Looks like quite a mess looking for pieces to make a hose setup. I think I am going to start with the 1 lb tank to start. Unless someone has a source for the splitter setup without turing it into science project. Just finding the correct connectors for the torch head was a challenge. Anyone have this figured out please post. Some photos would help

Most hardware stores should have them. I went to a local ACE hardware store and everything I needed was in stock.

I likewise hooked mine to a 20lb tank. Finding parts locally was tuff.
I got a 5ft coleman hose at WalMart,torch heads at Lowes,and the
brass splitter parts at a Welding shop, and the owner made up the
splitter with good crimped connections. Far more time consuming
than mail order, but at least you know all parts fit, when you walk
out the door. LDS

I also Use the bench source. Quality Machine. I Made up my own Hose assembly as I already had a crimping tool assortment and used a 20 lb Cyl .My Loading room is in the Lower part of my home and I was worried about leaving it inside my home and lugging the cyl in and out of the house so went back to 1 lb Cylinders using map gas They last a decent amount of time a I keep a couple stocked for backup

I too use mine in the house and I'm not comfortable putting a 20lb tank in the house. So I've stuck with the 1lb'ers and they last a dang long time.

I borrowed Tempilaq from a buddy and quickly found out the correct temp is just as the tip of the neck turns red/pink (you have to do it in the dark to see it in time) and never bought any.

Good luck, you'll love the machine....that's one purchase I don't regret!

I've always adjusted the time to when the blue starting turning orange right as the case is leaving the flame. Works for me.

This is one way to set up a splitter arrangement for a 20 lb. tank.

propanegear.com SKU 555

Part A threads on the 20 lb. cylinder
Part B threads on the 1/4" pipe thread end of Part A (Use thread sealant such as Teflon tape)
Part C (2 ea.) 1/4" male pipe threads into each end of Part B (Use thread sealant)
Part D (2 ea.) 1/4" male pipe threads into 1/4" female pipe thread of Part C (Use thread sealant)
Part D (2 ea.) 1"x20 Male Disposable Cylinder Thread threads on torches

I like this better. I wish I had seen it when I set mine up.
Yes, it is a simple setup and it worked right out of the bat. I was a bit skeptical at first as I have seen some elaborate setup discussed before and so frankly was a bit leery at first but one cannot argue with success.
