Bench Instead of Dirt

Is there stipulation in F Class or FT/R that lets someone who can’t get down and up, mostly up, any longer to shoot from a bench? Is this just something that would be decided club to club? Some would like to continue. Thanks

Club by club. Some are referring to this as F-Bench. Scores would be considered unofficial, and wouldn't be grouped with F-Open and F-T/R competitors shooting prone. Great option for clubs who are primarily interested in participation and inclusiveness.

At the club I am joining, we have raised prone shooting positions. So you walk up 3 steps and then get into the prone position. Not sure if something like that would help with the less mobile.

The NRA does grant this option for people with disabilities

My Pops went this route when the cancer reared its ugly head. Gave him a few more years of pleasure at the range.

The Bench Rest Rifle Club of St Louis, in Wright City, MO has had 'F-Bench' for at least 10 years, which is when I started shooting F-Class.

Medals are awarded to the first three places in F-Open, F-T/R and F-Bench at the Thursday matches (now also some Saturdays). The upcoming and well attended Sierra Cup has always had the F-Bench category.

Big Piney Sportsman's Club in Houston, MO also has F-Bench.

Enjoy!

Just make it a special category, like seniors or juniors.
The rules for needed support equipment could get pretty wonky though. I worked with a WW who can't use his left hand, so needs a rest/support to shoot a rifle.
