Bell and Carlson stocks

I am looking at getting the medalist tactical/varmint for a savage mod 12. Has anyone had any experience with this stock? Thanks

Yes. They work great and no modications needed. They drop right in. Wait. You might need to get a longer front action screw. I think you can get those at your local hardware store.

I have several of them, 2 for the Savage's and one for a Remington 700. My only complaint/problem is the high cheekpiece that makes it difficult to get a straight access to the bore when using a bore guide. The cleaning rod may have to be lifted up slightly to clear the stock. Depending on the barrel length, you may be able to get away with it with a really long cleaning rod, so the handle remains behind the butt pad. It is also more difficult for me when using my Hawkeye borescope. The cheekpiece gets in the way of the eyepiece housing with minimal clearence.

Thanks for all the input, I think I will be ordering one very soon. Well if I can get the website to open on my computer. Wish me luck, lol ;D

Bell and Carlson stocks are great. Especialy their medalist stocks with alu block. The normal ones are a little bit lighter than McMillan stocks and good for lightweight hunting rifles.
Another advantage: short delivery time, a lot of great surfaces and low price because they are moldet and not hand layered like McMillan.
The stocks are very stiff (compared to most moldet plastic factory stocks), the medalist don`t need a bedding but it`s no disadvantage if it`s done and the standard ones should get a pillar and epoxybedding for optimum accuracy.

Only disadvantage: they don`t offer a moldet in surface which is prefered for hard used hunting and sniper rifles.

crem1: None of mine were absolute "drop-in", although very close, the best of any of the after market stocks that I have. Be sure to check the relief cutout for the bolt handle. All 3 of mine had hard bolt contact with the bolt fully closed. An easy fix with my Dremel, a grinding wheel, and a spot of flat black touch up paint.

I've had two bell and carlsons the a5 and the a2 I liked them both but I liked the feel of the a2 for bipod shooting a lot better only mods I had to do was trim a little for the jewel trigger. Both of mine were rem 700s but the quailty was great from my experince.

Thanks again for the input everyone, hoping it won't take to much to get it up and running. Now just need to fine tune the loads and get that nailed down
