Before There was Jerry

I've seen some recent posts regarding revolvers. If any of you younger guys are interested in a bit of fascinating history do a search on Ed McGivern (1874-1957) who was one of the greatest trick revolver shooters of all time. Read his bio - interesting stuff. Many years ago a friend had McGivern's book, Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting and I was able to read it. Amazing stuff.

Not taking anything away from the current master, Jerry Miculek but McGivern was amazing given the time period and equipment he used. I believe Jerry has broken some of McGivern's records.

5 shots on a playing card from a double action revolver in 2/5 of one second. Repeatedly.

It's one of my favorite books!

Bob Munden was another. I saw a show with/about him several years back, he was using a short barreled 38 Special revolver. He was shooting at balloons (about 6-8" in diameter) quick draw at 200 yards hitting every one of them.
