Bedding with JB WELD?

At the Range yesterday, ran into a guy who said he had done his bedding with JB weld. Wow, I had to reply (tounge & cheek). I told him I had used accraglass on a few of mine but never, JB.
Y'all would know better than me, anybody out there heard of this? Any good?

I have never used JB Weld, but I have used PC7 which is a lot like JB. I have also used Brownells Steel Bed years ago and all it is is PC7 with a whole bunch of stainless steel filings in it. They all worked well, but new favorite is Pro Bed 2000.

I used it and it worked fine. Pretty runny when you first mix it, but let it sit for a few minutes and it thickens up enough to work with. Beauty of it is I can get it right down the street and one pack is plenty for an average bedding job.

I use it all of the time, it will color either brown or black as well. Dye pacs are available thru Brownells & other places. If you're in a hurry & the JB quick-5 minute works well also. You just need to be ready.

20 some years ago, a guy flat out told me that JB would not work because it was too hard. Didn't make any sense to me then or now. That rifle still has it's original bedding and still shoots great. Best part is you can fix you engine block with any leftovers ;)

I have used JB Weld, the quick 5 min. stuff, and it worked extremely well for me! I used Hornady One Shot case lube as a release agent and it was easy as pie!

Never bedded a rifle with JB but can say I have used it many times and that it dries very hard. Good stuff and every hardware store carries it.
