BEDDING SYNTHETIC STOCK

I HAVE A WEATHERBY SYNTHETIC STOCK, WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS COME UP WITH AN EPOXY THAT WILL ADHERE TO THIS TYPE OF STOCK. I ALSO, HAVE A HOGE, STOCK I LIKE TO BED.

You'll need to rough up the area you plan to bed so the bedding stuff will stick.
Clean the roughed up bedding area with a good degreaser or alcohol, and have right at it..
The release agent they use to prevent the stocks from sticking in the mold, needs to be removed before anything will stick to it...

I don't have any experience with Weatherby stocks, but bedding synthetics is really no big deal. I start by roughing up the surface to be bedded with a carbide ball. Heavy grit sandpaper works too, but I like deeper gouges. This will give the bedding something to grab hold of. I then clean the surface with a good degreaser as well.

I have bedded many Fiber Glass, Wood, but only one Synthetic Stock. I've used, Devon 3 types, Marine TEX White and Black, Metal Set, Accru-Glass, Bisonite Steel and Aluminum, and many more makers, than I can remember

The last one I did I had to Rough it and then Drill about 100 or more small opposing holes to get it to stay. Even then, althogh it looked good, I was not happy with it. For it just did not make be feel as though I really got a tight bond to the Synthetic material. It has held so far.

However, I am almost sure SOMEONE, of you, Gun Plumbers, Stock Builders, Bedder, surly must have found some make of Epoxy, or polyester base epoxys that will adhire to THESE STOCKS .

NOTE: PLEASE SHARE YOUR IDEAS.

They will all adhere if you do the prep work that was mentioned...
If yours didn't fall out it must be working :D

Pretty much all of the epoxies will stick to synthetics, but you can also use a mechanical lock to hold the epoxy in. To do this you basically just under cut the material a small amount so that the bottom is wider than the top, there is now no way the epoxy can move. I did this on all the stocks I have bedded thus far regardless of the material. I use the Devcon Steel Putty when I bed a rifle. I've used other products but this one is hands down the best. Make sure to tape off the stock and use plenty of good release agent!

I have been trying to bed a stevens 200 ,223 synthetic the last one week! roughened, undercut, gave it the full 3rd degree! degreased with acetone, final prep with PVC pipe primer.
Tried JB,3M SS 2 part, permatex, one and 2 part, liquid steel, builders bog -all that was available in this small town,in Oz.No luck.
Each time I got a perfect mold of the stock ! given up for a short break.Trying to get Devcon...anyone have similar bad experiences? :(

On a remington "tupperware" I roughed up the surface with a burr in the dremal tool and drilled holes, then used Devcon alum putty. Devcon is available from Rutland tool Co.
