Bedding scope mounting rail

Not what I would call "Advanced Gunsmithing"

Planning on putting mold release on the action and in the holes and threads then putting the epoxy on the Nightforce one piece base.

Not sure if this is necessary, don't hear too many people doing this but it looks like it's mostly contacting on the thin outer edges.

Anyone have better results or confidence with this? Any suggestions appreciated.

J.

Lay a flat piece of steel,I use a parallel) across the top of your base to see if if it's flat. Then mount it on the action and tighten the screws up and see if it's still flat. If it is, it's probably not worthwhile to bed it.

If it's not flat, like mine wasn't), bed it, but keep checking with the flat steel as you tighten the screws to make sure that you don't just torque it crooked. You'll probably have to play with it a bit to get the right screws tight.
