Bedding question

i read Richards bedding article but wanted to double check on how much material to remove from the stock He recommends up to 3/16 should I just take a 1 1/4 bullnose endmill right down the center leaving alittle at the rear to index off of n like 1/16 of the sides? I’m also making my own pillars so if I make them 1/2 in then I should run a 9/16 drill bill threw the holes ? Also how large do u guys like to leave the inside of the pillars 5/16?

I do roughly .062 around the entire action. I use a 1.375 bullnose router down the middle and then step over .050 and do the sides.

I make my own pillars also, and I bore my pillar holes to .562. I don’t use as much clearance as you mentioned, I like to use my pillars to keep the action perpendicular to the stock, so that things stay level to one another.

I ream the inside with a 19/64.

Rough idea of what they look like when done.
