Bedding question

I cant remember, what is the minimum time one could take the barreled action out of the stock after bedding? Useing devcon

Depends on what you use. I just bedded one yesterday with devcon. I like to take it out a bit early to make it easy to trim but you want to make sure it sticks well to the stock first. I leave the remaining epoxy on the bench so I can watch and see when it is hard. Yesterday it was ready after about 4 hours. Epoxy was hard to touch but easy to cut with a knife. Make sure you rotate the screws every 30-60 minutes in case they have epoxy in them. Taking it out early makes it easy to clean any epoxy out of the screw holes too.

Two, three hours, you can judge for yourself by saving the leftover bedding.. Just test it's hardness before trying to pop it apart.. "Although", I wouldn't ruin I bedding job because I wanted to rush it.. Slow down and take your time..

One more thought. How did you handle the recoil lug? I like a lot of space in front of mine, making it easy to put together. I've seen some bedding jobs that the recoil lug pulled a vacuum. If you put several layers of tape on front of lug, it will be easier to take apart. If you like the tight recoil lug, then you'll be pulling harder on the epoxy to take it apart and I'd give it a couple of more hours.

I don't in front, sides and bottom of lug get tape.. I tape forward of lug for a bit then dam with play dough..
