Bedding marlin 22 mag?

I was wondering about bedding my old marlin bolt 22 mag. I never realized it before but there is only one main screw/bolt that hold everything in the action. The barrel touches the stock all the way to the end of the forend of the stock and there isn't a screw/bolt securing the back of the action?

I was wondering about floating the barrel and bedding around the front screw area and around the rear tang? Has anyone messed with any of the rimfires that come with the barrels bedded against the stock and floated them?

I'm guessing the would shoot differently? I also noticed that there are 2 screws that hold the clip retention bracket in place. A big headed one that holds a piece of spring steel in place that rides in one of the chanels on the bottom of the bolt and a smaller one that is just behind it that also secures that clip retainer in place. I took off the bottom metal that goes around the clip and that second small screw hole in the stock lines up with the smaller screw in the clip retention bracket.

Well I was thinking that getting a longer screw that I could run through that metal plate and thread into the bottom of the action would give the action a second point for securing??

With a little bedding in a few areas this would really tighten up the action since it only has one screw right now??

I did a search on here and went through a ton of pages on a google search but came up with nothing. If anyone has any input on floating the barrels on these guns I would love to hear it. If you think it woul be a bad thing to float it then I would like to hear some input on that as well. Thanks in advance. Hank
