Bed Recoil Lug? - MDT XRS Chassis

The 6.5 Creedmoor barrel that I ordered from NSS came in today, so I threaded it onto my Savage action and set it in the chassis just to see what it would look and kind of feel like. I noticed quite a bit of play back & forth, but I did not turn in the action screws, either, so I guess that's to be expected.

Thinking about this more, I came up with a question. Without bedding the recoil lug, how does one know without a doubt that the recoil lug is taking all the recoil, and not the action screws?

Also, I've got a short video of the barreled action moving in the chassis, but learned that I can't post it here because of the file type. Would I have to upload it to YouTube or something like that in order to post it?

Snug up your screws. Muzzle end up, and tap the ass end on the floor gently to settle the action in place. Tighten screws.

You could check the lug contact with some prussian blue (inletting compound)

I've got 2 rifles that are chassis type, one is an MPA and one is a savage V-block style. The savage certainly improved with bedding. I haven't bothered with the MPA. It will clean a course of fire and is low recoil to begin with. Would it shoot better if bedded? Probably yes...

Check the 4 small screws just in front of the mag well.
Mine were really loose.
I torqued them and it took a lot of play out of the forend.

And yeah, stand the barreled action up, and then torque the action screws.

Go shooting

I got the barrel headspaced last night, that was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and kind of fun to do! Leveled and mounted the scope, now it's time to try some loads!

How do you like this chassis system,..does it feel good and feed well? Or is it just more plastic
I want to get one for a rifle I have..
It will be an upgrade from an old Choate sniper stock..hahaha or what ever its called its kind of a horrible product ..my rifle is completely off centered in the barrel channel..
I had to grind out the action area and bed the action so the barreled action would sit centered in the barrel Canel..but!...there is a but!..
After the work I did it fits the bill..
Now I just up graded the optics to a night force..and I can't have that cheesy stock so I want one of the MTD chassis then my gun can look respectable ..haha
So I'm asking..as a shooter, do you feel it's a good investment..or keep looking..
Thank ya much
