BAT vs. Nesika Bay

Im looking for opinions, I am geting ready to have a gun built and it is down to the BAT or Nesika Bay action, which do you prefer and why? Just so you know it will be a repeating action not a single shot. Thanx Duey

I don't know about Bat for I don't own any.I have 2 Nesika actions and they are great. The fit and finish are excellent.

I dont think youd go wrong with either. If you go to the Nesika website you can see what they have in stock and ready to send out.F-Class project?

Unlike some of the Nesika actions that went out a few years ago, BATS are always as good as it gets.......

If you want a repeater, I'd get a Borden Rimrock instead.

All my BATs are single shot, so I may be wrong on this, but I think you'd have to use a detachable magazine setup for the BAT. I don't think the repeater models have feed ramps or rails.

Personally, I don't think my one Dakota-made Nesika is even in the same league with my BATs.

Thanx for all the great info and Im leaning towards the BAT. THis gun will be a starter F-class/light BR/ Tatical gun so if anybody has any input please feel free;) Duey

Never owned a BAT, but I do have a Nesika J. One small problem with it when it was new, but now have about 5 thou rounds thru it and works fine. It does have one advantage - the Borden bumps.

I will second the recommendation to consider the Borden Rimrock action. Jim has really worked hard for the past four years perfecting this action & getting it into production. If you get the BR based action, the bolt is one piece, like Nesika. If you get the hunting style action, the bolt handle is silver soldered, like BAT. I have Bat, Nesika, old), Farley & Rimrock actions on various rifles - all are good actions. However, I think the Rimrock is currently the best worked out action. Give Jim Borden a call & discuss your project; it would be time well spent.

I am considering the same thing.
A repeater, switch barrel 22BR and 6BR.
I had the Borden, but also the Lawton 7000 and the Stiller Predator on my list, rem 700 drop ins).
Just wondering why they were not mentioned.
I am trying to figure out what to do with/or buy the magazine.
Thanks for any help.
Jerry

For single shot actions swing the bolt on a Barnard P-O2 action-the triggers are awesome also & not Rem pattern.
Their repeaters have a nice fit & finish for a drop in 700 clone.
My second choice of action manufacture would be a Borden.

I have exposure to both the BAT 3 lug and the Nesika Bay.

For my money, the 3 lug is the better design. Look at all the LR Palma shooters,1000yds)and predominately they have three and four lug actions. That is not a coincidence.

The BAT 3 Lug has to have some of the tightest clearances I have seen. The bolt action is so smooth it is incredible.

Another plus for a BAT is that you can have it machined for an Anschutz trigger, one of the best out there. That said, the Nesika Bay will accept the new CG triggers. Both are winners in my book.

Pay your money and take your choice. I just like actions with more than two lugs for LR work.

As mentioned,
Swing the bolt & dry fire a Barnard P-O2 with its single/two stage trigger & you won't have to fit a fragile Anschutz trigger to your BAT action & have firing pin/trigger timing issues.
