Bat SV or Kelby Panda

I am guessing "slick" means "smooth" here. If the Kelby actions are "slicker" than BATs I would be impressed. As far as the headspace goes I would not tempt changing out a barrel either way without a go/no-go gauge despite factory guarentees. Still looking for answers to the questions posted above about "feel" and durability. Called Brunos the other day and was told he sells 100 BATs to every Kelby he sells. "Folks prefer the SS actions but the accuracy is the same" If accuracy and durability are the same why not go with a lighter action if the gun may be carried?
thanks

Lighter is usually only important to make weight in the lighter classes ie. LV and hunter.
For F class many prefer heavier for accuracy reasons and will even stuff lead in the butt stock.
Feel and durability are very subjective questions that don't get enough attention. The BAT has a roller on the cocking cam (I think) which would make it easier to open the bolt. I have been trying to identify other design factors that would help predict the 'feel' of an action but with little success so far.

Thanks for your input. I understand about the weight issue for F-class. This build would be used for a variety of things including F-class but i would still like to keep the weight down. I see guns in the 12-14lb range keep up with the big 20+lb guns routinely so I'm not that concerned about that. Also I would shoot it from a bipod so I'm looking for lighter stock (but stiff) as well. Overall i would like to see gun come in around 10lbs. My main concern is which action for the money to buy.
thanks

It sounds like you want the lightest action available unless there is a secondary factor for you to avoid it (like high price, rough feel, lack of durability). What you are willing to pay is a personal issue. Hope you find what you are looking for. Good luck

The reason Bruno sells more BAT's than Kelbly's is because when people want a Kelbly action, they call Kelbly, that's what I did! ;)

I looked at both, ended up going with the Panda and then I will add weight where I need/want it for better balance. If I decide later that I want a try something else and need a lighter rifle, I'll remove the added weight! With a steel action, you are stuck with the weight.

Wow, is it really? That's good to know. I figured the Panda was lighter than the SV. Also, I like the idea of being able to start light and add weight if desired. One idea is to add a SS 1/4" thich 3"x6" bag plate onto the stock. I have seen this done to add weight and make a traditional stock ride in a rested bag. I figure this could help counter the lightness of palma barrel I am thinking on using.
