I bought a BAT SV (HUGE splurge for me) from a fellow AS forum member. Sent it and a HART 20 cal HV 10 twist to Loren Lieder of BIBS Machine in Greeley CO. Came to know of Loren because he barreled an old Superior I came upon and it shoots lights out.
Just got the barreled action yesterday.
Comments: Wow, slick sweet little action! Its a RBLP 223 BF. I have not purchased a trigger yet. Loren did a great job chambering, crowning and setting up the VT. It is high polish to match the action, and I have a set of polished Kelbly rings and a polished aluminum trigger guard. I couldn't wait to play so I sized down an LC made 221 FB case and turned the neck to fit. When it was sized with a full cam over in the Redding FL die it popped right it with only a faint resistance (likely the ejector/extractor) bolt tension. Happy Happy. The bore looks great in the scope cam. I have a Leupold 6-18 Target scope for it.
I have 5000 34 grain bullets and primers, 300 brass. My next decision is which stock do I make work for now. (I blew the budget on the action!) I have a walnut 40X that has seen everything from 722/700/40x to a seven inch long Hart experimental action bedded in it. It has a bunch of funky not quite right cuts, openings and flares, but heck, its just a means to hold the action and barrel in bedding material! Looks will have to give way to function for a while till I can afford an R-Nunn walnut stock and find someone who will inlet it for an SV. My other option is an Anschutz MCM that is set up for a 722. Dremel dremel dremel! Can you say dremel? For now its time to hack on the 40X that looks like Uncle Elmers baling wire and tape Savage 12 ga stock....It will work, but it isn't gonna be a looker for a while.
But I am tickled. It might not look great, but I am confident it is going to be PD poison.
I'll update later when photos are appropriate
