BAT SV 20 VT has arrived

I bought a BAT SV (HUGE splurge for me) from a fellow AS forum member. Sent it and a HART 20 cal HV 10 twist to Loren Lieder of BIBS Machine in Greeley CO. Came to know of Loren because he barreled an old Superior I came upon and it shoots lights out.

Just got the barreled action yesterday.

Comments: Wow, slick sweet little action! Its a RBLP 223 BF. I have not purchased a trigger yet. Loren did a great job chambering, crowning and setting up the VT. It is high polish to match the action, and I have a set of polished Kelbly rings and a polished aluminum trigger guard. I couldn't wait to play so I sized down an LC made 221 FB case and turned the neck to fit. When it was sized with a full cam over in the Redding FL die it popped right it with only a faint resistance (likely the ejector/extractor) bolt tension. Happy Happy. The bore looks great in the scope cam. I have a Leupold 6-18 Target scope for it.

I have 5000 34 grain bullets and primers, 300 brass. My next decision is which stock do I make work for now. (I blew the budget on the action!) I have a walnut 40X that has seen everything from 722/700/40x to a seven inch long Hart experimental action bedded in it. It has a bunch of funky not quite right cuts, openings and flares, but heck, its just a means to hold the action and barrel in bedding material! Looks will have to give way to function for a while till I can afford an R-Nunn walnut stock and find someone who will inlet it for an SV. My other option is an Anschutz MCM that is set up for a 722. Dremel dremel dremel! Can you say dremel? For now its time to hack on the 40X that looks like Uncle Elmers baling wire and tape Savage 12 ga stock....It will work, but it isn't gonna be a looker for a while.

But I am tickled. It might not look great, but I am confident it is going to be PD poison.

I'll update later when photos are appropriate

I`ve got the same action, I am thinking about a Tracker 2 stock in Obeche or a Manners t6a, I really like the adj. comb and I`m not sure it`s available on the Tracker...

I think I will just order a MCM MBR and have it inletted and pillared by them. I will probably contact R-nunn before i do that, just in case he can find a way to inlet his stocks for an SV. But despite the pretty of the R-Nunn, I think the easy way is to go MCM.

Sounds like a really cool rifle and the 20VT is great little round.

I used Jewell triggers for a long time but switched to Bixn’ Andy a few years ago and they are now my personal favorite. So crisp and the extremely consistent. I still like Jewell and will buy one in the classifieds if it’s a smoking deal. Actually have a spare Jewell on the shelf right now but no plans for it.

Have used Trigger Tech and they are good, but not quite the quality of BnA. Would personally buy a Jewell before TT because I think dollar for dollar you get more for your money with a Jewell. But BnA beats them both in my opinion.

So these days when I’m building a new rifle, I buy BnA triggers. Just my preference.

snert, This BAT action is just like the one I sold you, but a Hornet bf in 20 Mink. This is an old bench rest stock I had, that took a ton of work and goop...but turned out pretty nice. Shoots very well. 7315br
That's exactly where I would go if Ihad one of those Lee Six Chet Brown stocks like that! I have two on Superiors. I plan on the exact color and set up (except Leupold)> Nice Nice Nice

I called MCM with a hot card in hand, ready to drop the $$ to get an MBR, only to learn that they don't inlet for the SV without the action. I have sent that action all over and I am not shipping it again. I might glue together a couple 2x4 and dremel a hole in it! ;)

Well, I broke out the dremel, a barrel channel tool and sandpaper today. I got the 40X to fit a lot better and I thnk it will end up working out. When I get closer I will photograph it and post.

Ordered the Jewell today, and Fredo, my bedding muse has been coaching me on pillars, etc. I think it is going to work out. JoshB sent along his stock finishing advice too. A real AS conflaberation!
