BAT Mavrick, have you tried it?

Just wondering if there are many out there, I love the BAT 3L and the 60*throw. Saw the post by @Alex Wheeler and it sure looks good! I like the idea of the 75* throw also. Let me hear your thoughts please.

I dont have one but my concern would be the wear on the aluminum action should the teflon wear off
It’s basically the same design as the Stolle Panda, although the Panda never had any type of coating in the aluminum. BAT says the teflon is some kind of anodize that is “infused” into the action body.

I have seen Panda’s that looked like they had been left out in the weather for a year and still shot great.

I am curious about the 70 degree bolt throw. Do they do this by sacrificing lug contact?

I have a new (and an old) Bumblebee in the shop and it definitely loses a bit of lug contact over the previous 90° throw. You can see the contact from the grease swipes.

They say in the description of the Maverick that it retains “vertical lug lockup”. Do they mean a dead vertical lockup or close to vertical? The only way it could be a dead vertical lockup is if the rails were canted. It’s also a .900” dia bolt body so mby a Bumblebee isn’t a good comparison to hang your hat on?

I think the Maverick is a wide body bolt (like 3L or Nuevo). Wouldn’t this design eliminate the rails (no cant needed)?

Same, .900 dia. as the Neuvo. From what I understand it has steel inserts (as per Alex post).
As per @Alex Wheeler
Some features that are unique to this action... It has a 75 degree bolt throw, but its still a 6 and 12 o'clock lug position in lock up. You can do that with a full diameter bolt, not a standard 2 lug with horizontal lug ways. See the pics to understand.
My favorite thing about it is the closing cams. By shortening the closing cams (the extraction cam follows as well) it allows you to widen the cocking cam on the bolt. Which makes for a sallower angle and easier bolt open. This action opens like a 90 degree even though its a 75. And you do not sacrifice timing. This is the best timed action out of the box I have felt.
Obviously this is an aluminum body action with steel inserts. Its actually slicker than a steel body, just like the aluminum Nuevo.
This one they just sent me is the latest version. There were some internal changes to improve ejection. With those short cams you do have to compress the ejector before you can close the bolt so a light spring is important for feel. Now ejection is 100% no matter what. They also made some other small tweaks. The current version is a very nice action if you like a smaller port and stroke.

It’s definitely a different feel when closing the bolt. You have to give it a push. Have you had success changing out ejector springs to limit the amount of push needed.

Don't have one yet, wanted hear from the collective! What do you think is causing you to have to push harder to close?

I have the Neuvo also, will be using it this year.
I have three of them. My opinion is on order to gain some perceived advantages incorporating the horizontal lug lock up, they created a few.
One is the action body is not that stiff. Combined with the very close fit of the bolt in the action body, you had best have a perfect bedding job or the action will flex when pulled down, resulting in a catch in the bolt as you bull it back.

I figure Bat and Bullet Central figures the vast majority will be glued in’s.

Second is regardless if what Bat or Bullet Central says, the Neuvo will not take the same pressures as some other actions. I have a LV 6PPC drop port built on a Neuvo, and a LV 6PPC built on a 1997 vintage Farley that I converted to a drop port years ago.

Both actions have the same barrel, same chamber, same brass, etc. however, the 30.4 grain load of 133 that my Farley handles with zero problems results in a tighter bolt lift in the Neuvo. I have to make sure the brass is squeaky clean in the Neuvo, or the result will be a noticeable stiffer bolt lift.

As far as accuracy goes, the one in 30BR and 6PPC are certainly accurate enough. However, I am not convinced either is as a match for my 30BR Farley or my 6 PPC Farley.

Thanks Jackie, not what I wanted to hear, I too have a Neuvo but have never run into a problem with LT32 (I preload) and running about 3450 fps.
I would really rather not have a Mavrick glue in.
EDIT: @jackieschmidt my Neuvo had to be returned to my smith and glued in due to the bolt being hard to close as a bolt in, about 3/4s of the way in the bolt would get tight, after being glued in it works fine. My Neuvo is a drop port also. Now you have me thinkin'''

I now shoot LT-32 more now than 133. I shoot 29.2 grains behind my own 68 grn BT at 3450 with Alpha Brass. That is what I shot at the TackDriver and shot one really great group, a couple of decent ones, and a darned 1.250 hat killed my Agg. I also shot the best Score Target of the Match.

For some reason, I have lost my tuning touch with 133. The lot I have is 2022, it seems a little fast, as just 30.1 grains results in 3450. I am satisfied with the LT-32, so I am not in panic mode.

I've been using the LT32 for the last couple of years and really like it, I've since backed off to around 3450 also, I think it is much more consistent there.
