BAT Machine customer service as good as Quality!!

I love the BAT actions. Had a mix up on a product I ordered they took care of it same day and made it right and went above and beyond. Their customer service is as good as their quality! The next benchrest action will be another BAT!

I'm lucky enough to live just 15 miles away. Picked up a magnum bolt face BAT VR action with a Jewel trigger via some trading. The origins of the action were bit unknown. It'd been traded a couple of times and no one ever built anything out of it. I ended up using it to build a 6.5 PRC. Was having a little trouble with it not ejecting the brass. Gave them a call and they asked me to bring it over. They took one look at it and knew what it was. One of their guys does customization work on some of the production runs. They said let's go talk to him. Went downstairs into his work area and he said, yup, it's mine. He tried it with the brass I brought, grabbed an extractor off the bench, honed it a bit, miked it and installed it. Said try that. I think it was built for a specific caliber and the brass base thickness was a couple thousands different. Also gave me another one in case this one was still not quite right along with an ejector spring so I could tune it further to my liking. He said that he likes to tune the customs so that the brass is not ejected into the next county but rather so it drops right out where you can just pick it up. Worked perfectly. Like a dream actually. I hate having to chase brass or eject it into my neighbors face in competition. This thing ejects consistently and always drops it right next to the rifle. Haven't needed the other parts they gave me.

Anyway, after that I was taken on a tour of the facility. Some very high tech equipment and a lot of it. I wouldn't call myself a machinist but I do own a manual lathe, mill and other necessary tools and I did thread and chamber the barrel on the 6.5 PRC myself (came out pretty nice IMO). Got to talk to some of the machinists and the owners. Let me tell ya, these guys know what they are doing. On top of that they are super nice folks. They probably spent over an hour with me on adjusting the brass ejection, touring the shop floor and talking to folks. Never would have expected that level of personal attention for an action of unknown history and a person they didn't know. They even showed me how I could modify the action to make the 6.5 PRC feed from the mag a little more cleanly should I decide to not continue with single feeding. Having dealt with a lot of manufacturers over the years, I was blown away. A+ is a bit of an understatement in my view.

That's the kind of service everyone should provide. Hats off to BAT. Sounds like a 1st class outfit. I own one, and never had an issue. Thanks for the report!

Quick little story. When I broke in my new 6BR, on a BAT action, I ran into a problem. About the 10th shot, just after cleaning...and putting back onto the rest for another shot...I couldn't get the action closed. Tried several time...not forcing anything. Finally I bent over and took a close look at the bolt port. One of my wife's hairs had found it's way into the port. She was sitting right beside the rifle as I was breaking it in.

I pulled the hair out of the bolt port...and it went into battery perfectly. Awesome. Now, THAT is close tolerances. I'm SO impressed with BAT.
