BAT M action with slide extractor will not eject 6dasher brass

I have a BAT M action with a right bolt, left load, right eject bolt. It has a sliding extractor and will not eject the dasher brass. Not a problem unless you are shooting LRBR and trying to put all your rounds downrange during a certain condition.

What are my options for getting the brass to eject?
Will a left load right eject work if it has a Sako extractor or does it have to be a right load right eject to work properly?
Can I replace the sliding extractor with a Sako extractor, or does this require a gunsmith?
Or do I just need to get a BAT M bolt with the Sako extractor?

Thanks in advance!

I have an M that's the opposite bolt/port config and have the same problem with GT brass. I dont think it's an extractor problem; the action has so much room in the race way that the ejector can't effectively "fling" the brass out.

The brass because of the length and size of the action kicks out from under the extractor when it clears the chamber. The trick is to hold it under the extractor. Just make a longer ejector shaped like the original. My B in 6BR will sling brass off the bench now where before it was a struggle to get 1 out of 5 to eject. And yes it drags on the cone on an empty chamber. No big deal.

I did what Dave said with a Stolle-wish this was posted 10 years ago. I struggled with that problem for a long time. Have never had an extraction or ejection problem since!

Thanks for the replies. Interesting, Dave.... I did not know that the issue was keeping the brass held by the extractor after it clears the chamber. But I am not a gunsmith or a machinist.

If I understand it correctly looking at post #9 on this thread, it appears that using a Sako extractor may be another possible solution to this problem:

except that mine is a dual port which may present another problem.

Daves fix is all you can do with your current bolt. The newer bolts have the ejector at 6 oclock which moves the ejector closer to the extractor so it will stay loaded at more of an angle than beore. It also angles the brass up more to keep it out of the lug way. The sako is the best way to go for the br case but if your port is straight out the side like Im sure it is because thats how they made them with sliding plates the sako may not work so well. You need your ejection port angled up to match the ejection angle of the sako.

Thanks, Alex. I bought this action about 9 or 10 years ago, and the ejection port is cut straight horizontal and not at an angle. So it appears that even a Sako extractor may not fix the issue.
