BAT Action which one?

I'm fixing to drop the hammer on a new model B action to use in 600 yard IBS matches and unsure which dia. I need to get. The rifle will be chambered in a 6 dasher and I see a 1.35 and a 1.53 dia. So choose shooting which is the preferred action to get? I know I have weight to consider so rest specs is a Shehane st1000 stock in fiberglass a 28" HV contour barrel. And a march 5-50x56 scope with tactical knobs. I'm also considering the Bix n Andy trigger as well.

Thanks in advance,

At the advice of Lester Bruno I have the B, Multi Flat, Dual Port, LT load RT extract with Saco extractors.

I ran a 1.53 3L but just switched to a 1.35 SV. But I was running a Hv in a MBR and a NXS and I was getting up there. I think you'll be fine on weight with the bigger action.

My 300 WSM is a M and Multi Flat. My Dasher is an SB Multi Flat but I would do a regular S if I had to do it again. I like the Multi Flat for bedding. My WSM had a 32 inch Krieger in 308 Baer years ago and it had no problems hanging the barrel. I didn't even have any bedding in front of the action. Both of them are dual ports and have no trouble. Make sure when you order you tell him its for a Dasher so you get the sako type extractor or you will have extraction problems. Matt

Thanks for replies everyone, I'm going with the "B" action RBLPRE 1.35 dia and will have the sako extractor and roller bearing on the cam. The barrel ordered is a Brux 1-8 twist HV and my mistake on scope it'll be a 10-60 not the 5-50
Stock could still be up int he air I was set on a Shehane ST1000 in fiberglass but was advised they aren't straight so we will have to see.

I think they have more problems with their wood stocks than the fiberglass ones. McMillan makes the fiberglass ones. And I know a lot of the big names in 600 shoot the St-1000 in fiberglass.

James,

you should be good for weight. The Bat I used was useing for 600 was a "M" 1.53" RBLPRE 28' barrel with a NF 12 x 42 BR in Bat al rings. It weightd 16.9 lbs.

Good to see you coming back.

I would be looking for a new source for advise. I wouldn`t buy the wood version as mentioned.

I tried to pattern my builds from the guys who shoot small all the time, Mike Davis, Sam Hall, Rodney Wagner, Mike Hanes, Chad Jenkins.

You will easily make Lt Class with components listed and would opt for the 1.53" version.

James I had an st-1000 that was more crooked than a 2x4 at home depot. And don't think you will be able to send it back either. I would think the Mcmillan version would be ok. I would check out the "tear drop" from precision rifle and tool. Its what your looking for.

couldn't agree more. very frustrating to spend that much money, and have zero customer service with valid complaints. some people may have had decent experiences with the st1000, but certainly not on my end. it took a lot of time and personal expense to get that stock acceptable.

James,,,it is good to see you getting a gun ready for the season,,,,you are one of the best out there,,,I would try one of the new Kelbly Long range stocks ( 1M or 1K--I forget !!) ,,,and OBTW I would get a Panda F Class acton to top it off,,,,Roger

I have 2 MF MBR Bats one is for light gun and the other is for heavy gun. I also have both bedded in the Shehane St1000 Laminated stock. I find no problem with the stocks , both are excellent ! My light gun is a 6 Dasher and has no problems making eight with a 28" barrel. My heavy gun is a .284 Shehane with 30" barrel and weight doesn't matter. I also have a MF 3 lug Bat with 1.250" 32 " tube and like it more than either of the other 2 , it is also a .284 Shehane . Had I had a choice I'd go with the 3 lug any day , it's smooth as silk when cycling.
Just my input
