Bat action screw spacing

Keith Glasscock

Hi guys,

I've finally taken the first step in building my F-open rifle. I've made arrangements to obtain a stock that was originally bedded for a Bat B action. The bedding needs redone and I don't own a Bat action yet...

Here is the question:

I would really like to use an MB action for this build. I'm planning on it being a 284 (possibly Shehane). Are the screw spacings on the B and MB the same, or sufficiently different that I can bore out a new pillar location? I will be doing my own stock work, as usual, and would love to not have a funky double hole.

Thanks,
Keith

Re: Bat action screw spacing, a start

The BAT action (MB) for my 6.5X284 has the following spacing (measuring from the end (where the barrel/action joins)):

2.3083"
5.3978"
8.3724"
OAL = 8.4993" (barrel end to tang end).

Per the print that accompanied my MB action, measurements need to be taken from your action.

Now, if someone w/ a B can provide dimensions, you'd be GTG.

HTH,
Richard
