BAT action question ???

I'm not sure how long it's been a option on BAT actions.. but the cam roller !! ?? I must have been under a rock not to have seen this or read about it. Of those that have one... How does it differ from from a "normal" camming lift of the bolt ? What is the benefit of the bearing compared to a normal cocking cam action. I'm asking because I'm looking at having a second rifle build for next year(2015) already. The next action is going to be a BAT MB chrome moly.
Thanx again,

I have one on a "B" model. A friend of mine has a "B" without it and it's hard to tell the difference.

Bearrings would make the effort/force needed to lift and lower the bolt handle less than it would be without them and the bolt lifting and lowering action would be smoother and the bearrings would reduce wear, rubbing verses roll over.

Being the owner of a few, the chrome moly actions have a different feel than the SS models. That being said, I don' think you will notice the difference for the extra money.JMO!

I have with and without. It's hard for me to give you a good comparison, I have a 6BR Model B without and a 6BR Model M with, and a 300WSM Model M without. I ordered the rolling cocking piece for the 300WSM Bolt I just haven't put it on. So the comparison I have isn't really apples to apples. I like the roller Cocking piece and do believe it makes a difference that's why I ordered the 2nd one. Get it at the time of the build If I remember correctly it was only an extra $50, order one after the fact and it's closer to a $100. All are incredibly smooth, it's just hard to imagine the roller will not reduce the amount of friction and make it that much smoother.

I think the roller probably shines in the 3 lug bolts. The 60* throw means a steeper cocking cam angle.

There it is, the roller was made to assist the 3 lug actions. I asked Bruce Thom's (Owner of Bat) about the roller cocking piece on my 2 lug and he told me, that he did not think it made much of a difference. He actually discouraged me away from it, he said the roller is on a small rod, and even though he has yet to get one back, he thought that the rod had a limited wear life.

He told me the same, but I still like it. What's an extra $50 really matter when you look at what you're spending on a BAT.

Thank you for the answers... After reading these replies I think I will go with out the roller. Besides 50 bucs is 50 bucs to spend on components !!
Thanx again,
