BAT action question

Can someone explain the major differences between BAT's SV 2 lug action and their 3 lug longer actions? Is the 3 lug longer action strongr or better than the sv? I know the SV is the shortest one they make and I'm trying to put together a list of reasons why or why not to go with one or the other. I assume the longer action offers a better bed, and the 3 lug bolt is more positive but I would love more details. The project is for a 308 and his is my first custom action build.

The difference between a two-lug and a three-lug action is small, but is in favor of the three-lug from the standpoint of bolt stability. This can be a plus with ammunition that is less than perfect,think issue ammo here). The three-lug will also have a 60 degree bolt lift versus 90 degrees for the two-lug, not a major factor in and of itself, but if unattended, can cause a harder bolt lift.. In the case of the BAT, the three lug overcomes what would otherwise be a harder bolt lift by using a roller on the cocking cam.

BAT makes their three lug action in long and standard versions. I'm building a standard one into a 6XC, but its a slow project. The barrel is now fitted but the stock is at least a year away. I've handled and examined about a dozen varieties of the BAT action,living close to Bruno's has it's benefits) and have seen a number of them built into winning rifles for NRA and Benchrest competition. When it came time to lay out the $$$ for a new action, I bought a BAT. I'm always looking at what's out there and I keep an open mind, but I think today BAT makes the action that encompasses the features I want with the quality level I expect. Since not everyone will share my opinion, there are at least a dozen other action makers out there to satisfy them!
