Bartlein Barrels - Wow!

I was just looking at the equipment list for the 2011 Super Shoot and the number of Bartlein Barrels in the lists of the top shooters equipment was impressive (dominant) to say the least. In the 13.5 lb class, 7 of the top 10 shooters had Bartlein barrels. In the 10.5 lb class, 6 of the top 10 shooters had Bartlein barrels. In the 2 gun aggregate, the top five shooters all shot Bartlein barrels on both guns. These numbers are truly impressive.

Clearly as far as great shooting barrels go, Bartlein is putting out some exceptional barrels and quite a few great shooters know this and are using their barrels.

Early summer they were 9 months backlogged. With all that advertising from wins ordering a Bartlein will be like buying green bananas if you are over 60. Might not live long enough to see them get ripe or get your blank.

Have a couple of their blanks just haven't shot out anything to justify a rebarrel. No pdogs and no yotes anymore to speak of hereabouts so tubes last a looonnnngggggg time now. With component cost and my being cheap out of necessity I don't shoot just to hear the bang anymore!

They should be good: Frank Green and his partner (forgot name) both migrated from Krieger about 10 yrs. ago.

I have had good luck with some, but not all Bartliens. Picked up a new Krieger yestrday.

I am very pleased with my first Bartlein 6MM barrel I got from Robert, talk about an easy break in and easy cleaner! Not to mention the tiny groups it shoots.

Bartlein makes a great barrel. I currently have four installed, two blanks and a spare 6BR barrel for my Viper SS. There is, however, a bit of herd mentality in BR. If that is what is shooting, that's great.

In High Power, Krieger, Bartlein, and many others do just fine. I have shot well with both above as well as Brux, Shilen and Hart.

We are very fortunate to have so many outstanding barrel makers and the choices that we do.

Robert was talking about the equipment at the Super Shoot. The $14K worth of barrels were donated by Bartlein to the US Benchrest Team for use at the recent World Championship. WBC is not the same as Super Shoot.

Those many shooters using Bartleins at the Super Shoot, who were NOT team members, were not shooting "freebies".

I have two Bartlein 1 in 8" 5R barrels. One is chambered in .243 A.I. and the other is a blank that will probably be chambered in 6mm BR. The one in .243 A.I. broke in very easy, cleans easy and shows real potential. In fact I'm going to the range this evening to fine tune a load I've been working on with 80 grn. bullets.

I just installed a Bartlein on a hunting rifle. The guy hasn't shot the gun yet so I can't say how it performs, but it machined better than any barrel I've installed yet. I've installed a good number of quality barrels and this one did the best on the lathe. I will be excited to see the results at the range. If the gun shoots half as well as it machined it will make a great shooting rifle. Brian Brown.
