Good afternoon fellow shooters,
I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly endorse Bartlein Barrels. I've always shot factory rifles / barrels , I've never had a premium barrel . I recently had a Bartlein 5 R #2B in 25 cal installed on a Browning A Bolt action. I broke it in according to the recommendations they provide, at the end of that break in process it produced a nice small 3/8" cluster for 3 rounds. I worked up a decent load that printed a tad less than 3/4" for 5 at 100 yds. It finally cooled off enough that I could take it out to 300 yds. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Firing off of sandbags from a bench, I printed 4 shots in 3/4" or so , the flyer enlarged the group to 2" , that one can be blamed on me? Wind? Brass? Neck tension? Little green men? Gremlins ? I dont know and I really dont care, I've never had a rifle that shoots this well. It does it with most all loads, developing a load was difficult, they all shot very well. The worst I think was a touch over an inch at 100. I am not one of the bench rest shooters that frequent this forum, just a regular old guy that has to many guns. So to Bartlein Barrels , thanks , I am trying to decide which of my other rifles has a barrel that is burnt out .
