Bartlein barrel contour question

For my PRS rifle in 6 cm, I'm currently running a Bartlein in heavy palma at 26 inch length. What is the heaviest contour with a 1.25 shank without going to a straight barrel? Is a heavy varmint what I seek?

Heavy Varmint is the typical non-straight contour. Like Fuj said some makers have a "heavy varmint max" or something like that. They have a little less taper and a little more length on the breech end.

Yes, the standard “heavy Varmint” is the go to profile before going straight.

It is also one of the easiest to get. Chris Mackey here on our Site might have what you are looking for.

Heavy varmint is heaviest standard profile but they will do custom profile like the 338 heavy varmint I had them do with a 1” muzzle

I would guess an MTU profile. I think of it as a derivative of the Heavy Varmint after you remove 2" or 3" of the breach end.

Excellent. That's what I was thinking but wanted to be sure. I'll try and find him. Thanks!

1.25" The Heavy Varmint starts out at 1.25" for a length of 5". Most people don't need all 5" at the front of the receiver.

Thanks. For my case (PRS competitions), I want as much weight in the barrel as possible to help with balance and heat dissipation without going to a straight profile.
