Bart Sauter Pencil whips Carroll Lance Out of 2 Gun Win

These are the results from the 2 Gun Shot today in Mempis!
Under the current method the I won the 2 Gun! However, Carroll Lance should have been the 2 Gun Winner. This is what happens when you have a system that estimates your overall placement instead of using actual aggregates and scores!

CURRENT METHOD

LG SCORE LG GROUP HG SCORE HG GROUP Rank
1st Bart Sauter 2 8 3 6 19

2nd Carroll Lance 1 3 14 2 20

3rd Gaylon Bryeans 12 11 2 1 26

4th Steve Wilson 23 1 1 3 28

5th Gene Ford 8 6 16 7 37

PROPOSED METHOD

2 GUN OVERALL SCORE. 2 GUN OVERALL AGGREGATE TOTAL

1st. Carroll Lance 2 2 4

2nd Bart Sauter. 1 5 6

3rd Gaylon Bryeans 4 3 7

4th Steve Wilson 11 1 12

5th Gene Ford 9 4 13

Proposed Change for calculating Overall 2 Gun

The overall Two Gun for any shooter will be calculated using the following method.

The shooter’s two Gun group aggregate will be determined by adding all group sizes shot in LG and HG together and dividing by the number of targets.

A shooter’s Two Gun score will be be determined by adding all scores from targets shot in LG and HG.

Shooters will be given a ranking based on the shooters overall Two Gun aggregate (smallest to Largest) and overall Two Gun score (highest to smallest).

The Shooter’s ranking numbers from overall Two Gun aggregate and overall Two Gun score will be added together to determine overall Two Gun Rank. This ranking will be sorted in ascending order, the lowest number will be deemed the overall Two-Gun aggregate winner.

You have to put it formally into the agenda item. Get the 25 signatures on the agenda item get to the LR committee by the timelines . Good job documenting the need for it.

Understand you want to increase the value of the small group and decrease the value of the score. Kind of like short range benchrest except that's
ALL group with no score.

To me the supreme challenge in long-range benchrest is to hit the target. I would and do weight my success by score. Now I am a "NOBODY" in benchrest shooting. Still to me it's just absurd to degrade at all the skills needed to figure out the conditions and hit the center of the target. Take that value down and what is left is some variance of just running the shots under the same conditions and hitting close together, even though there might be some degree of misses.

I say you easily won that match. Good shooting Bart.

Mal,

There is no increasing the value of group or decreasing the value of score. It’s simply using your actual groups and your actual scores to determine your overall ranking. The SAME way your overall Light Gun and Overall Heavy Gun are being calculated now.

The current method for determining a shooters overall 2 Gun placement is highly inaccurate.

I view the results as you having the best scores and good groups. Makes you the winner to me. Your new scoring method would not show that and thus, to me, puts more weight/value, on the group size to determine the overall winner. Just an opinion and idea. Does not make me right.

FYI ... Using your bullets with Varget in the IBS match Saturday. Found something that makes them "shine", I hope.

Or if you look at the placements. Carroll shot the 2nd best score and 2nd best in groups for the day. While I had the best score of the day 1st and and 5th in Group. His total of 4 is better than my total of 6!

This isn't opinion it's math. It's a true representation of what was shot for the 2 Gun.

Good luck at the match I hope you found what your rifle likes!

You just might be correct then. If you affect a change in the calculations with support from others, it just might be the right thing.

Since Steve Krauss (BT1)WON that Orange Blossom shoot a couple weeks ago with Barts' bullets, I gave them another try. Won the Manatee gong shoot last Saturday in my first test of them with the new idea and powder. Tied the record for hits to do it. Need to put that on paper, if possible Thursday, and check. Weather conditions do not look good and that sure reflects in results, practice or shoot.

Will let you know. Better shut up on that topic or it will cause me months of supply delay just getting more bullets.

@BartsBullets
Do you have Sunday's results?..... how'd it go?
Donovan

Also:
In the current IBS-600 SOY Points, the Manatee matches 1 & 2 are not included in the year to date totals. Hopefully one of you from the 600 gang will bring that to the IBS's attention.
