Barrel Types...5C/5R /Poly....traditional....etc..

Anyone want to chime in on how it affects:

Accuracy
Bore Life
Speed

Also, any test done in 236 vs 237 in 6mm bore?

Also - what bore groove # do you prefer in 6, 6.5 and 7mm bbls?

Thanks all.

At this point I can't ansewer all your questions. I have a Broughton 5c 6br, and a Brux barrel witch is cut rifling in 308 win. I haven't shot either barrel enough to really know if the 5c has a advantage as to accuracy, or Bore life. However it does appear that Volecities are reached much easier in my Broughton 5c. (less powder) Barrel Breakin on the Broughton was done..... on the 2nd shot! I have not seen any copper in my Broughton 5c since then! This is with 400rnds down the tube. My Brux barrel was a little different. Took 16 shots to get to the point that there was no copper in the barrel. I only have 40rnds down the tube on the Brux so I can't say it is going to be a hammer? Although I am very impressed with what the Brux barrel has shown me so far! It does appear it's going to shoot very well! Giving I do my part at the loading bench and behind the gun. (Note barrel break in was confirmed with a Hawkeye bore scope)

I can tell you that my Broughton 5c cleans up easier than anything I have ever seen! Take that with a grain of salt tho. I haven't seen much as to custom hand lapped barrels! At this point I would think that the 5c, 5R, etc barrel's Might have an advantage to speed, barrel life, and maintenance, but Accuracy I'm not convienced. Only because I haven't shot the two barrels enough to really be fair. A lot of Brux, and Keriger barrels are setting records and performing Awesome! As well a lot of Broughton 5c and Bartlien 5r barrels are doing just as well! My conclusion at this point would be that it really comes down more too the shooter/reloader, rather than the barrel!

my krieger .236 bore 1-8" 5R 6BR showed zero copper during break in. fire 1, clean; fire 1, clean; for 10 shots. then shot my first groups. 107 sierra, 30.0 varget. bugholes for 5 shots!! still have yet to see any copper signs.

65Br -
Howdy !

My Broughton 6mm SS 29" Palma 1-8 "5-C" rilfed barrel broke-in w/ one shot.
NO blue after the first shot. Barrel cleans up w/o even having to use a brush !

Hyper-accurate w/ ,y 6mm chambering.

Have not chrono'd, but Broughton says the canted rifling picks up some vel, commpared to traditional rifling,.

Have not approached barrel life limit yet, so cannot comment.

I'd definitely go w/ a Broughton "5-C" , again.

I have heard faster speed w/5C. Yet heard longer life w/cut if not mistaken.

All else equal, accuracy is what I am chasing, figuring speeds should be close....but perhaps not.

Appreciate all those who replied and welcome others. Thanks much guys.

BTW, Any thoughts on Bartlein 4 grooves?
