Barrel tuners for center fire

My 222Rem rifle has been restocked with a composite BR stock that saves much weight. I would like to bring it back up closer to the 10.5 weight limit by adding a barrel tuner. There is a lot of info out there about rimfire tuners but not so much on center fire tuners. Besides the Time Precision tuner, does anyone use or recommend other brands? The idea of a clamp on tuner is particularly appealing over a threaded model for ease of installation. Any experience you may wish to share with me would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of a commercially available centerfire tuner that doesn't require threading of the barrel. I seem to recall talk of people using a certain rimfire tuner that clamped on and they wouldn't stay put without tightening them to the point where the bore was measureably constricted by the tuner. I would certainly think that problem could be addressed fairly easily. That said, I do use several of Butch Lambert's tuners. They work, and are my first choice of tuner design. One thing to consider is that they weigh right at 6 ozs. Most 10.5lb guns simply can't spare that much added weight at all, much less at the muzzle. If you can use the weight and not make the gun too nose heavy, I wouldn't hesitate to use one of his tuners. There are lighter ones, but bear in mind that weight itself is a central part of a tuners very functionality. They work too, but I'm pleased with Butch's design, personally, and it's ease of use.--Mike Ezell

Thanks Mike, much appreciate your input. Butch makes good stuff so I have no hesitation in getting in touch with him.
