barrel torque

Lots of folks do it different, but all I do is snug them up tight, and then give the wrench a hit as hard as I can with the heel of my hand... Never ever had a problem doing it that way.....

There are tons of opinions about this but the way I do it is just like Preacher. The average barrel tourqe is probably between 35 and 50 ft/lbs if I had to guess.

I just took apart a Howa that was put together with 4,835 ft. lbs of torque by a really big gorilla.... LOL. 50 ft lbs is good. Some people make a mark at hand tight and go 1/8 turn. Some smiths use a 4' breaker bar which in my opinion just stretches the threads. Many ways to do it
