Barrel tenon dimensions

Folks,

Would any of you have a reference for barrel tenon dimensions for different rifle actions. Specifically I need the dimensions and thread callout for a M1917 US Enfield. It would be fun to see a book which has this listed for most of the popular production rifles over the last 120 years.

Thanks

Jim

This is the info I have on that particular rifle.
As always it is best to measure what you have to confirm.

Tennon length .800'
Major Diameter 1.125'
Minor Diameter 1.085'
Thread 10 TPI Square
Extractor cut width .410'
Cone Breech 45 degrees
or
Safety Breech .700' diameter and depth to clear bolt nose.

My 1917 Enfield 450-500 Express the tenon is .900 long and the extractor cut is .310 wide. The clearance for the bolt nose on mine is .670 and is .210 deep. The threads are as above.

I was afraid of the square threads given its an English design. I've never cut them before and I am not sure how you get the width correct. I'll have to do more research.

Thanks everybody.

Jim
