Anything around 6 1/2 to 7 lbs should be safe with a little bedding under the chamber swell
I would think 1.25 for at least 26", depending on caliber thats between 8-10# flute it you get this... My smith had concerns at first if it was going to work, but after he assembled and tried the stock decided it would work with a small bed from the lug to about 3.5"s out.
