Barrel Runout

New barrel, set up in a 4 jaw with spider for muzzle support. Exhibiting runout ( don't expect them to be perfect ) at muzzle end, but how much is
" allowable "? Planning on indexing barrel to action so does it make any darned difference ? Chamber end is near perfect with a .300 gauge rod in shank.

1st the rod needs to be undersize to fit in the barrel so your run out won't be less than the difference between the bore & the rod. If you can get it to a couple tenths, that's probably as close as you can get. Most barrels aren't any straighter than that regardless of their claims. It takes a top teir grinder to hold a couple tenths on an OD let alone on a ID in the length of a barrel.
