Barrel Reaming ?

I am considering reaming a barrel with the Ackley Improved reamer. My question is where can i get dimensions for reamer depth in a savage barrel - since you are reaming it out of the action, how much of the go gage should stick out of the barrel?

I have searched for this info and can't seem to find it.

If you have the action, you will find all the answers there.

Measure bolt nose to bolt face and add .010" for clearance.

Will you be setting the barrel back at all? I would set it back .100" to make sure everything cleans up from first chamber.

While you have the barrel in the lathe, check chamber runout against bore. If there is substantial runout, set barrel back enough to straighten out the chamber at this time.

Good luck.
