6tI've spent a lot of time like most other people researching barrel life on several different cartridges on the net and most of the time on this site. There is quite a bit of excellent information on this site on just about anything to do with shooting however it is spread out all over the place. I was thinking it would be nice to have a thread that is just focused on competition cartridges and barrel life without reading 22 posts to get your answer. Don't get me wrong I love reading all the info, but it's frustrating sometimes to find the info.
I would like to know real life experiences not just "I've heard they get about xxxx rounds!"
I have not replaced or set back my F-class rifle which is a .280 Improved, but I only have 290 rounds down the tube. I'm building another 6mm something or another here in a couple weeks when my barrel arrives, so could be another season before I get to replace/set back a barrel.
I would like to keep it simple. Any competition cartridge is fair game.
1. What cartridge?
2. how many rounds before you replaced the barrel?
3. when and how many times was it set back? (if set back)
4. what were your standards for the set back/replace? ( IE, went from 1/4 MOA to 1/3 MOA)
5. what discipline were you shooting with the rifle? (IE, F-class, BR, Across the course, etc..)
