?? barrel life of 6mmbr

I know it is almost impossible to tell, but about how many
shots can one expect from a barrel...I have a chance to
buy a heavy varmint-26 inch -8 twist----he said it has
400 to 500 rounds thru it...150 bucks Gritaion spelling..
So should I buy it..

if you have the same type of action and can use tha barrel as is then go for it.
but do borescope it first to see if it's really only 500 rounds... shouldn't see any firecracking after so few rounds.

my 6mm BR shoots .25 MOA after 4000 rounds.

I got around 3,500 out of a heavy Border Barrels 1-8" twist job mostly using 105gn bullets in 'warmish' loads. It still shot well at that round count, certainly good enough for most varminting, but the borescope showed the throat was badly firecracked and eroded.

~1,500 rounds sees the barrel lose its 'edge' in my experience so that it won't hold mid-range bench rest grouping standards after that point assuming the rifle has been specified and built to that standard originally.

I'd of already said the magic words.....BTW it's more than likely a Criterion Barrel, it's a Division of Krieger Barrels......sold through Northland Supply.

My Swiss buddy likes his, exact same barrel!
