I am new at the machining process of extreme accuracy and trying to make as few mistakes as possible. My question is when you crown a barrel you have to place the crown at the tightest and roundest part of the barrel.I have a Shilen barrel that is supposed to be 26" long but after I sludged the barrel there is a .0003 tight spot 12" from the breach that runs for a inch. What I never lapped a barrel before and I would guess this is the only way to correct the problem?
