Barrel Cooler

I know that there have been a few threads about a barrel cooler, but when i was in Jonesville Va for the Mountain Man event there, i saw this where a fella was using a Caldwell AR15 barrel cooler.. he said it worked perfect for cooling his rifle.. i don't remember if he had to modify it to work on the bolt rifle action.

Were you able to see how he had it fixed up to work on a bolt action? Probably just a hose from the cooler to the chamber?

You know, that is my issue, i know that he said he did something, but i can't remember exactly, but i would say that is a pretty good guess.. but i am not certain about it

I use a 12v Intex Matress blower with a 1/2" tube and a case with the head cut off. Remove the bolt and insert the case into the chamber. Works awesome. The velocity is way up there. Kestrel is indicating around 50mph.

Cant find a picture but here is a video I took of it;

I had a C-Cell battery one but that burned batteries so bad I ditched it. If you really need it mobile and away from a car, I recommend still getting the 12v version but tying one of these into it;

I got the Walmart blower, fixed a 1/2" piece of tubing to it. Then I took an old bore guide and use that to insert into the chamber. Works like a dream and really pushes the air.

After a construction buddy showed up at the range with a Ryobi battery powered fan I decided to go with a fan from Amazon:

It keeps the barrel cool for hours if you pace shooting.

I tried a homemade one and a couple of fans designed to be inserted into the barrel and this works the best if you don't mind the breeze. A plus to the breeze.. it keeps the mosquitos out of your face here in SWFL.

These work well, (only $15.50, and puts out a lot of air. You'll need a 12v source and a piece of soft tubing. I use a small battery jumper box with an outlet. They also make this in battery powered and with an internal rechargeable battery. I don't know how long wither would last. I also use a "T" connector and a small 12v fan that attaches to my bench so I can keep cool in hot weather too. I've seen some smaller 12v power pack someplace which would be less to carry.

A fan along those lines is popular among 22LR BR guys to keep the mirage off the barrel.

I already have too much stuff that I load up to go shooting which is why I utilize a small unit that works well for all my bolt action rifles. They do not push as much air as some but cools even my f-class contours within a few minutes.
I am in no way affiliated with this product but it does work http://barrelcool.com/product-category/barrelcool/
Well aware of that product, but i think that you will notice.. that these are alternatives to that product.. and at a lower cost might i add
