Barrel Contours

Hi guys,

I’ve looked at about every dimension chart I can find and not quite getting the answer I want.

Is there anyone out there that has a Remington Varmint Contour Barrel and a Heavy Palma barrel of the same length that can put a picture of the two side by side OR let me know the weight difference?


I’m thinking the Heavy Palma Barrel should be about 1.5lbs heavier but I’m not 100% sure as the charts always list weight for a 30” Palma and a 26” Remington Varmint.

Just subtract the last 4 in of the Palma barrel weight. That section is close to cylindrical so it’s easy to calculate.

Pac-Nor has a handy barrel weight calculator on their site. You can plug in barrel length, size and number of flutes, bore diameter, etc, and then compare the weight of most popular contours. Looks like the heavy palma is going to be around 2/3 of a pound heavier for a 26".
