barrel contour?

Just finalising building a 6mmbr and am a bit stuck on barrel contour. I am doing it on a trued rem for general walkaround varminting and some target work, possibly dropping it into a richard franklin/greg west #10 stock. I really want to get away from the sendro style contour on my rem at the minute as I just plain dont like it. Thinking of going for a straight taper, 1.200 at the receiver, .850 at the muzzle, with 5 inches of parrel at the chamber before the taper starts or perhaps just a full straight taper 1.200-.850 with no parrel part at the chamber, I like this idea best but have never seen a rem with it done and am wondering what it will look like, anyone done it like that? I have a cooper m21 whick has just a stright taper barrel and I love the look of it. Any opinions much appreciated.

You've basically described a NBRSA Light Varmint taper barrel. This is the most common barrel contour being used on benchrest rifles. Its indeed a great taper for a walking varminter as long as you don't mind carrying around ten pounds of rifle.
