Why?Hi all, joined the site a few weeks ago. My question, I have a Kauger arms BRII with a 223 semi coned bolt nose. Will I be able to use a flat breech with the semi coned bolt.
Because I have a barrel with a flat breech. If one of the gunsmith members say no I will shop for a new barrel. Why?
Thank you, Alex, for taking time to explain the concept. I watched your interview with Erik Coritna, and for someone with your knowledge to take the time to answer a question and explain it in simple terms, is appreciated! The function of a coned breech is to guide the bullet point into the chamber of an un guided cartridge (single shot). In a magazine fed rifle the cartridge is guided and the magazine, feel rails, and ramp will guide the cartridge into the chamber. If your magazine is not feeding well, a semi cone will not help that. A semi cone functions the same as a flat breech. All the cone on a semi cone does is guide the point of the bullet righting into the flat the surrounds the rear of the chamber. It will not feed the bullet into the chamber. A semi cone does nothing for feeding. Thats why Tikka does not cut a semi cone breech even though their bolt is a semi cone. While cutting a semi cone breech does not hurt anything, it does not help anything either. The flat breech is perfectly fine.
I have Your exact same set up, except in a 6 BRA. It works fine.Hi all, joined the site a few weeks ago. My question, I have a Kauger arms BRII with a 223 semi coned bolt nose. Will I be able to use a flat breech with the semi coned bolt.
