Barrel break in

I shoot just for a year, so I am still kind of novice. I bought 223 Tikka Sporter for my wife this Christmas. We went on range yesterday and shot about 100 rounds. I did not clean or break the barrel. Did I screw up? What should I do now?
Thanks

When I first started replacing barrels I did what was thought fashionable and did the 'one shot and clean' method to break the barrel in, which seemed to take most of the day and it was boring. However, some shooters now say ignore the barrel break in procedure and just shoot as many it takes to get a good load, then clean later when your done. If you have a borescope you can check your cleaning regime is a good one to remove the copper. So, more shooting = happiness!

Break in can be good to reduce fouling and that can rise accuracy.
Clean your barrel with JB and after that all 200 rounds.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I'm with the guys saying, just clean and shoot it now, not much else to do now. But if you would have asked before you shot the thing, I would've said to break it in. I wouldn't have always said that, but today I would.
To me there's quite a difference between a custom hand lapped barrel, and a barrel on a factory gun. Yes I've laughed at the guys at the range doing it, out loud in fact. And never did it myself, and never will because I can't ever see myself buying a factory gun again.
If you're not going to do a break in of some sort, at least shoot Tubb's final finish bullets through it.

Just my 2 cents, but am currently doing a break in on a friend's rifle built by GreTan. The barreled action was delivered with special graphite fluid and detailed break in instructions. This rifle has a Krieger barrel. I've only fired two shots so far, but cleaning after the second shot still took a lot of work with Butch's Bore Shine to eliminate the evidence of copper on the cleaning patchs. Since I don't have a bore scope, the patches are all I have to go by. If GreTan recommends a break in procedure, I'm going to follow it.

What was their procedure if you don't mind sharing?

I think the best thing for for you to do is search the forum. A lot has been posted on this. I have discovered that the fluff left from a chamber reamer in the throat is all that needs to be addressed. Take a brass bore brush and wrap a little 0000 steel wool on it. Use an electric drill to polish the neck, leade, and throat. Your barrel is now broken in.

The scanner mode on my printer doesn't work and to type it all would be too time consuming for a hunt and peck typist. Hopefully someone else will post it for you. If not, PM me your phone # and I will call and tell you about it.
