Barrel Bolt clearances Rem 700 6mm Rem

Ok everyone, this is my first genuine need information post on this forum
Pdog buddy gave me a 6mm rem that had a scary barrel. I do everything myself so bought this Shilen 12 twist to swap out.
I am not sure where to find dimension/ clearance numbers (like a drawing) to answer my questions so here goes.
Thanks in advance for all feedback and i will do my best to comprehend.

1) Rem 700 6 mm remington
2) New Shilen barrel with chamber cut 0.015 deep, by my choice.
Qualify #2: if its too deep i can remove metal, if short would require a chamber reamer to chase out.
So here we are.
3) barrel screwed to receiver hand firm with recoil lug in place. Clean threads, bottoms out solid not mushy.
Questions:
A) What is max clearance between go gauge and bolt face.
B) How much room is desireable end of bolt lug?
C) How much room is desireable end of bolt to the surface outside the chamber.
Ok:
It is evident that to reduce go gauge clearance by more than .013 that 3 surfaces will have to be moved.
Third one being face barrel major diameter at recoil lug.

Setting the shoulder back .010 will fix 2 out of 3 and be close to your target headspace dimension....if I read your post right, that you are intentionally shooting for .015 deeper than spec.

Shilen asked if i wanted 015 deep so i can "trim to fit"
I said yes. I do not want longer than spec. Looking for sammi chamber as thats the norm.
I dont know what any of it is supposed to be so am asking before trying to guess.
Thanks for your prompt response.

I would set HS up for go gage+.003". End play on the bolt nose .010"
tenon length HS -.010"
Those numbers will work every time.
I started using the tenon length HS -.010" decades ago. The reason is I touch a boring bar on the end of the barrel and go whatever the bolt nose depth measures when cutting the counterbore. That automatically gives .010" clearance for end play.

Then you're gonna have to remove metal from all three surfaces. I'd work off of the corrected head space and set the other clearances as you prefer. I prefer
.003-.005 but many reputable smiths, such as Dave Tooley, use more and .010 is a common number that gets tossed around.

In a remington 700 i put .010 on all 3 spaces. It sucks that you have to chase 3 dimensions now instead of going the other way and giving a reamer a twist or 2

Dusty!
We can laugh now about how hindsight has 2 possible meanings. WTHeck was i thinking:confused:!
Oh yeah about not having to have a reamer...my bud bought one right after i got the barrel! Dirty trick. We chambered his. Now mines a jommetry problem. Ugh. June is coming. Dogs are gestating for everyones arrival!
Thanks.

Yes i have measuring tools.
Good enough at math.
Measure twice cut once.
My mind was at work watching compressor mechanics doing clearances.
Thanks
Edit
I gots ta know!

Give everything but the headspace .010- easy enough to remember

Take it to work Monday and get to whittling. Will let you all know how it comes out.
All the help inspires confidence.
Thanks again!

The attached data sheet may help. I typically set the bolt nose clearance at 0.007 and 0.010+ between the bolt lug and tennon. Note: There is an error in step 4 on the data sheet. If you take off 0.010 you will end up with double the desired bolt nose clearance.

A. .002 that will put you pretty much in the middle of saami spec.
B I use about .007
c I use about .007

I'm not going to do the math for you but you'll need to set the shoulder back .026 to get to standard chamber and then adjust all the other surfaces. Sounds like you know how to do it.

Do the .026 in 2 to 5 steps, measuring after each, depending on your confidence. It's easy to keep taking more material off but hard to put it back on.

I had Shilen chamber a 17Rem barrel for a customer .010 deep. I did not want to buy a reamer for a one time use. After I lapped in the lugs trued up bolt face and squared action face. I only had to remove about .006 from barrel for correct headspace and bolt clearance.
