Hi all, I need some advise on what seating depths you have found works best with the 100 gr. Barnes tipped tripple shock bullets.
Rifle is a Savage Model 112, 26" heavy barrel.
Load will be Nosler Custom brass, CCI large B.R. primers, IMR4831 powder.
Just curious as to how much off the riflings seems to work the best.
Also, due these bullets cause alot of increase in pressure over other brands?

Most rifles have different preferences for seating depth, but with that said, I usually jump them quite a bit because of feeding from a magazine. .100 isn't uncommon & they still shoot very well. I really haven't seen an pressure issues when switching from a cup & core bullet to a TTSX of the same weight. There would have been before they added the 3 grooves and the fouling would have been significant. I shoot a bunch of TTSX's, great bullet, accurate, & extremely terminal.
It has totally replaced my old "best Bullet".

Thanks Larry, I'm just kind of lost with these bullets, I've been reloading for close to 30 years but haven't tried any of these yet.
Usually when I work up a load I ladder test with the bullets seated at the lands go up until I start getting pressure signs and some kind of accuracy and then play with the seating depths.
But when I looked at Barnes website it states the best accuracy is usually with 30 to 70 thousands jump so they suggest starting at.050.
My question is if you find the velocity range that seems to be best how do you then know which way to go with the seating using thier method?
These bullets are long and when you seat them well of the riflings the base of the bullets is down to the shoulder inside the case, has that caused you any problems?

This advise came from "Ty" when he was still in tech support a few years back when I was struggling with seating some 120TTSX in a 7-08.

"Seat near the center of the forward ring of the TTSX",,Because of the goofy ring/groove situation on the bullet and the way it sit's in the neck, but it worked. The rifle is an inexpensive hunter and I'm getting 1 1/4" groups at 200, I'm very content with that for hunting. If I remember correctly that's still over sammi.

So the moral of my experiance is these things like alot of jump.

I would agree with Necci, most of my bullets are seated to the middle of the 1st groove, just because that's where they ended up & no issues.

I have found in several rifles and calibers, about .060" off is the sweet spot for my loads. Some of these loads have been outstanding, I have a Ruger 300 winnie that puts 3 in one hole! Not bad for a factory Ruger barrel. Dave
