Barnes load data

Need load data for 7mm-08 120 gr and 140 gr TTSX, .243 Win. and 6mm Dasher 80 gr TTSX. Not a lot of powders listed in the Barnes manual. I have Varget, H4895, H4831SC, H4350, MR2000, and MR4000 powders. Barnes told me to start at the minimum for an equivalent weight lead core bullet for the Dasher.
Thanks,
Dan

Barnes manual are for Barnes bullets. Very sparse information. Personally, I won't be wasting my money on one again.

I would go with Barnes's recommendation. I did the same over the weekend with my 30-06 and their 150g TTSX and found that I could go quite a bit above the published max for that weight bullet. With 58.5g of H4350, Lapua brass, and a Fed 210M primer I was seeing 3100 FPS on the chrono. No pressure signs. You may use a little more powder, but you'll know exactly what your rifle can take with that combo.

Years ago, with the original Barnes X, and original loading manual, I found their loads to be Optimistic. Would start 2 grains below anything they recommend.

Down in NZ we use standard loads as a start but you need to keep up the speed because Barnes and traffic cops go hand in hand.Seating depth is a major for Barnes. Never found seating them out like a traditional projectile is any good.In 223 we run to the top cannelure or ring and it seems to be good because they like a bit of Olympics i.e. long jump.Cant go past BM2 in 223 because it is so easy to lift your speed and accuracy in any direction depending how hot you like your loads.Super powder.

I have been shooting both the 7mm/08 and and 308Winchester here are my suggestions:

7mm/08, LR primers, 120 Barnes Triple shocks, Beginning load 43.gr Varget seated 2.808 COAL I am shooting 46.gr Varget

7mm/08, LR primers 120 Barnes Tripple Shocks beginning load 44.gr IMR-4350 seated 2.808" COAL. I am shooting 45.gr IMR-4350

7mm/08, LR primers, 140 Barnes Tripple shocks beginning load 40.5gr Varget seated 2.808" COAL. I am shooting 40.5gr of Varget

308 Winchester, LR Primers, 140 Barnes Tripple Shocks, beginning load 43.0gr Varget, 2.808"COAL. I am shooting 46.5gr of Varget.

308 Winchester, LR Primers, 140 Barnes Tripple Shocks, beginning load 42.0 gr H-4895, 2.808"COAL. I am shooting 45.5 gr of H-4895.

308 Winchester, LR Primers, 150 Barnes Tripple Shocks, beginning load 42.gr H-4895, 2.808" COAL. I am shooting 45.0gr of H-4895. (Max load in Barnes book it shoots within 20 fps of what is posted velocity and shoots sub .5moa in my gun) I harvested twenty whitetails with this load last year. Complete pass thru on all but one. That bullet went from end to end and mushroomed perfectly. It weighed 127gr when recovered. I shot several deer with this bullet at over 400 yards.

308 Winchester, LR Primers, 150 Barnes Tripple Shocks, Beginning load 44.0gr W-748. 2.808"COAL. I am shooting 46.0gr. Out of 26" AMU Contour, Muller Works 1:10, flat lands, 5R, I am getting sub .3moa, and 3012fps with 6fps ES, and 10 SD. Built this rifle after the deer season but will try it out this fall.

I have found H-4895, RE-15, Tac, H-414, and W-748 all to work well in the 7mm/08 and 308 Win.

Hope this will help you. I just got two pounds of H-414 which is listed in the Barnes load data. Will be testing it this week. It physically looks very similar to W-748.
