Barnes bullets for longrange?

my father in law is shooting the 30cal 115g blue coated ones in his 300 win mag Sendero at over 4000fps. He has shot at least 20 deer with them at out to 700yds.

I have not used the 168 grain TTSX, but have been using the 130 grain TTSX in my 308 Winchester. The longest deer I have taken so far is only 260 yards. I can tell you that it is the best terminal performance I have ever seen in any bullet. You will get a nice 1-2" entrance hole, and a 3-4" exit hole. I am getting very good velocity out of my 308 with this bullet, 3340 fps.

"hotbrass"

You asked if anyone was using this bullet for "long range shooting". I assume you meant for long range RIFLE COMPETITION as this is the COMPETITION FORUM.

With all the great target bullets out there I doubt that there are very many serious competitors using a hunting bullet.

"I can hit something"

Shooting a 10 grain bullet at 9,000 fps is great and all but I doubt it has any use in Competiton Shooting let alone in the competiton shooting forum....

I have tried the 168 gr,Barns blue coated in my 30-06 at 500 yards.I had a 4 foot target no wind 58 drg.1000 feet alt.and shot 5 times and hit the target twice those two bullets were spaced apart about a foot and half. so I put in Breger VLD 168 gr, same loads same just different bullets. The Bergers grouped 4 inch 5 shots,I never tried those Barns again.
