Barnard “S” tenon

I have one for the standard single shot which I can post later. I believe they also did some repeaters that could be optioned with rem 700 tennon dimensions which allowed the use of pre fit barrels and correct recoil lug position for drop in stock fit

Have you emailed Whidden Gun Works? I needed a Barrel tenon print for a Barnard Model SM about 2 weeks back.
I emailed them and they emailed me a print the next day. But I think the Model S and SM are a little different?

Good Luck
Allen

Yes this one is a single shot - I would appreciate the posting of it.

aspiker - I did get the sm from whidden too

Thanks Jerry

Jerry I just had a look and I can't find the factory print. I have my own drawing which is in metric and don't really want to hand on something that might not be correct for you.

Measure it up like any other action. The only real difference is the cone on the back of the tennon doesn't continue all the way through to the chamber like a kelbly / BAT etc. There is a flat surface before the cone starts which matches the bolt nose profile. Probably plenty of ways to achieve this but I set my compound to 30deg, using a carbide boring bar turn the back of the tennon square to the desired length, set carriage to 0, counterbore the flat surface to the correct depth and diameter, rough profile the cone by hand, then come back into the counterbore depth / diameter and wind the compound out to do the final profile on the cone as the last cut. That takes most of the risk out of the taper cut and makes sure the square face is where it should be. Final test with lead wire or plastigauge.

I had a quick google and didn't come across a factory drawing but as you mentioned . . . .whidden would probably be the best bet.

Thanks for looking for the print…. Can you verify that the s tenon is the same as the sm action Tenon?

Whidden does not have the s action print just the sm action.

Thanks jerry

No it's completely different. Imagine a kelbly panda tennon but with a 15mm diameter flat face at the back of the chamber before the cone starts.

I'm running an S with a V block so no allowance for recoil lug either.

I'll try and get some pictures tonight.

Ask Whidden for a proper drawing.

Interesting that post with the Barnard drawing for a 223 tennon disappeared?

Here's my suggestion. If you have an imperial lathe you can do without the cheater groove.
