Ballistic solver : TBR vs Line-of-sight + Look Angle

Question for the ballistic solver gurus.

I've noticed a small difference between using TBR values when compared to Line-Of-Sight + Angle.

In Applied Ballistics (using a custom drag curve for my projectile), when I use

1000m LOS, 20 degree look angle, I get 8.4 mil elevation

but for 939.7m TBR, 0 degree look angle, I get 8.1 mil elevation

Curious to know which is the higher quality set to use, and especially WHY

The line-of-sight + look angle is an approximation. I am a hunter and have used it for years. I call it minute-of-meat vs minute of angle though

I think the problem with it is that it assumes the bullet is only traveling the horizontal component of the flight (940 meters in your example). In actuality, it is traveling 1,000 meters. The LOS + Look estimation under estimates the velocity lost because a slightly less distance and time-of-flight are assumed. The more severe the angle the more distortion there is.

Applied Ballistics is about as good as it gets. I am getting a custom drag model for my rifle next month from Mr. Litz. I am excited!!
