Ballistic Program for a Palm

I'm thinking about the possibly of a ballistics program for intermediate to long range use that can be used in the field via a Palm Pilot. I would like to be able to input everything from current weather conditions, to load data and shot angle. This would be used in conjunction with Mil data from my scope. Do any of you use this type of program or do you prefer something else. Rangefinders are fine, but they don't take into account any exterior ballistic data and or interference. Suggestions as to what program you use and why would be appreciated......Thanx, Bob.

I have been looking into a program such as this. What is the cost of good software, and what would I need to run this in the field or at the range? Can I purchase a hand held unit with the ballistics program only? What would be a good setup, and how much? Thanks

Exbal is popular for a palm, i have it and like it. It gets me close to the target at long range.

i also have Loadbase 2.0 By patagonia ballistics, for windows handheld,,this program is way more advanced and has way more features. The lurning curve on this program is slow. There are many advance features, for ex: there is a way to get an exact ballistice coef. for a load out of your rifle by setting 2 chronies at different distances. Plus a ton more features. Another thing, each type of bullets fired can be analysed according to its actual drag function, g1, especially g7 for the VLD bullets.There are graphs,recoil force and a ton of other analytical stuff.


One thing you must have in this investment is a good weather station, Any Kestrel station will do the trick form $150 to $300

I am a little confused as usual. If you go to the Perry system home page and click on,order Exbal) there is a menu with different options. If I ordered the Exbal PC/ Palm Combo for $122.50 does this include the palm pilot with the ballistics program?, the whole ball of wax)

I use Exbal on a palm; it will get you pretty close, especially on windage. It will be nice when they update the program to include some of the newer Berger bullets, like the 130 grain 6.5mm.

A while back,this fall) I hadn't used my PDA,Palm Tungsten E) for a period of some weeks, and the battery went flat. Since I never sprung for the card-backup utility, that means I have to load everything again and reinstall from the Palm Desktop app on my 'puter. Since I don't usually have much on there other than some notes and Exbal,all backed up on the 'puter), no sweat. Charge it up for a while, and hot sync,done it before). This time, no joy. Install Exbal, attempt to run it, locks up the handheld. Reset the hand held, try it again, locks up again. Tried it about every possible way,including wiping and reinstalling the software on the computer, and re-initializing the PDA)... still locks up when I try to run Exbal.

Contacted Exbal, and inquired if they had any ideas... response was basically "Welcome to the world of Palm OS, now you know why we started recommending PDAs using Pocket PC". Kind of frustrating, as I've used Palm OS PDAs for... eight or nine years now running Exbal. Next one probably going to be a used Dell Axim X51 off eBay, running Exbal and possibly one or more of the other options out there... LoadBase, Field Firing Solutions, or Silhouette Ballistics, just because I like collecting ballistics programs to play with

I think its great but lacks instruction or complete help section. When playing around set it to military instead of hunting and no color if you have green screen palm like me so you can see the scope mildot recomendation. It allows you to have a data base of different bullets you use, rifles you use and is quite powerfull. There are 2 more free palm ballistic programs that will give you typical functions.
