Ballistic calculator

RL from Tampa,
I’m reloading some 30-06 and need a ballistic calculator that I can give specific data; bullet type/wt powder type, amount of powder etc. to obtain bullet drop at specific yardages, 100,200,300,400etc
All that I’ve seen so far seem to be do factory Ammo.
Any help would be appreciated!

If I understand you correctly I would try Strelock, ballistics arc, Hornady app. These are the 3 that come to mind.

ETA: You can input your own info in addition it has library of factory ammo.

Berger has a nice one.

I like Strelok. You will need to know your velocity, but you can choose the bullet from a library and it will input those variables for you. You can also have different loads for the same rifle and switch between them easily.

You'll need a measured (or assumed) muzzle velocity to use any of the calculators I've seen. Of all the dozen or so cartridges I've loaded for the 30/06 seems to vary the most from the published data in the various manuals. A chrono session would be needed.

The only thing i can think of to do powder type & weight calculations is Quickload/Quicktarget.

It's about the only one i know of that will give velocity predictions for powder volume.

For a ballistic calculator you don't need to put in powder data for the load. Just velocity and bullet data. Hornady 4Dof works great and is a free app. Also JBM online works well.

I've used the Hornady web calculator and the JBM web calculator. Both seem to work well.

Seem fairly accurate.

Haven't used the "smart" phone app versions.

Welcome to the forum. There are probably even a few others I didn't remember to link, but some of them are on-line and free, others are apps for Apple or Android, etc.

Take your pick and good luck. 30-06 is one of the oldest standards and lots of us here cut our teeth on that caliber when it was still common and cheap as surplus.

I like StrelokPro Pro And Shooter. Both cost, not much, but well worth it. I use both and compare them. StrelokPro has more features but they both arrive pretty much at same firing solution. You need to know your velocity to get the proper firing solution. There are other variables to be inputted but they are easy to get. Save the info to the cloud or Dropbox and import it back to phone if you loose it or phone breaks.
Link for StrelokPro posted above here is the one for Shooter in case you are interested.

There are a few more basic calculators as well. They may be easier to use for someone just getting into using them. I use to use the big game info calculator and vortex calculator for just getting initial drop data. Nothing fancy but you can get G1/G7 and all the environmental info is there for input also. Strelok Pro is a great one.

Applied Ballistics and Strelok Pro pull weather data from local stations and use it in their calculations. I'm not sure about the freebies. Some you need to enter the density altitude and wind manually. Some don't even use that data. If looking for specific powders, Quick Load is the go to software.
